Gospel Shore 04:42
who's that walking on the gospel shore? who's that walking on the gospel shore? who's that walking on the gospel shore? beneath a lamp His head did bow beneath a lamp, saw His head go bow beneath a lamp His head did bow alone, alone, all alone was He alone, alone, all alone was He alone, alone, all alone was He a restless soul in agony Chorus I come from Abyssinia gonna walk to Galilee I seek to lose these shackles I seek to set men free gonna march right with my brothers gonna stand beside the sea when the pharaoh comes to cut us he'll drown in our victory the blind live on but they do not see the deaf live on but they do not hear the mute live on tho' they do not speak and we march on and we do not fear they come as one they come in threes they come as one they come in peace they come as one they march with me 2nd chorus from a chasm so hard slanted deep within my soul a savage place abandoned a rock which never rolls a king's shadow once demanded its right to block the sun a thousand campfires burn alike their light becomes our one! the wind blew high, the sun dipped low the wind blew high, the sun dipped low the wind blew high, the sun dipped low and still He walked but He's walking slow ash and sand along the gospel shore the weight of the world now for evermore ash and sand along the gospel shore if Heaven awaits, what are we livin' for? if Heaven awaits, what are we livin' for? Chorus I come from Abyssinia gonna walk to Galilee I seek to lose these shackles I seek to set men free gonna march right with my brothers gonna stand beside the sea when the pharaoh comes to cut us he'll drown in our victory

if you love them and you leave them if you love them not for long then you'll soon see love in shadows you'll only miss her when she's gone once I had a darlin' pal I loved her every day she was pure as mountain air and so I said I'd stay then came time to preacher up then came time to pray I lit out for my Southern home left my wedding far away! Chorus once I knew a pretty gal so I snag to her my song she joined right in on harmony her melody so strong this music that we made for life could capture any ear but I see me as a soloist so I said I couldn't hear it was Gatlinberg in Tennessee one day in mid-July I found myself a-waltztin' sweet with a gal named Nellie Bly I knew she was a match for me and I told her by and by then I met her husband Hank and I went away to cry Chorus now you've heard my story now you've heard my song if you find someone to love you'll know where you belong Chorus

these will never be farmers' hands farmers' hands these will never be farmers' hands when I was a boy, there really was no question I would farm the way my father did made a choice to plough a different furrow these will never be farmers' hands living off the land, it is the oldest story all this going away and looking back all these songs still asking us to sing them wishing we had farmers' hands these great calloused hands not for keys and buttons 'til the box and fiddle take the air then the tunes come flowing from these fingers these are surely farmers' hands I can understand living far from the sea but how we can live so far from the land? we'd like to think we know what it is to dig and sow in our best-laid plans these will never be farmers' hands don't know what I'd say today to guide my children if I'd made the farmers' life my own killing fields, making people crazy you got by with farmers' hands these will never be farmers' hands farmers' hands these will never be farmers' hands

I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes I see a line of cars and they're all painted black With flowers and my love both never to come back I see people turn their heads and quickly look away Like a new born baby it just happens every day I look inside myself and see my heart is black I see my red door and must have it painted black Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts It's not easy facing up when your whole world is black No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue I could not foresee this thing happening to you If I look hard enough into the settin' sun My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes I see a red door and I want it painted black No colors anymore I want them to turn black I see the girls go by dressed in their summer clothes I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

about

‘Find The One’ features (take deep breath) five new Sid Griffin songs, an astonishing campfire cover of David Bowie’s classic ‘Heroes’, a guest appearance by ex-Fairport Convention guitarist Richard Thompson as well as the first ever appearance of BBC radio legend Brian Matthew on an alt-country recording! To say nothing of a sitar and fiddle battle on the Rolling Stones’ immortal Paint It, Black. Yes, a real sitar.

Produced by the legendary John Wood, the man who recorded Fairport Convention in their glory days and who produced Nick Drake, Squeeze and Beth Orton, ‘Find The One’ was recorded in north London earlier this year.

It was mixed by Ed Stasium in Colorado USA, Ed being best known as Phil Spector’s main engineer and for his work with the Ramones. Stasium mastered it too so it is the best sounding Coal Porters recording ever done.
